Critique Service
Introducing Song Matchmakers Critique Service
Have you paid for an expensive demo and then:
Had publishers pass on it?
- Wondered why?
- Wished you could find out why?
- Received negative feedback from publishers?
Do you:
- Rewrite the lyric until every line is perfect?
- Rewrite the groove until the song comes alive?
- Rewrite the melody and not go with the very first one?
- Have a professional critique your song before recording it?
As publishers of many genres of music, we have many songs submitted to us that have great potential, but they were demoed before they were ready. Often, it’s a weak lyric; sometimes it needs some melodic or chord tweaks. Sometimes, one “tweak” can make the difference between a cut or no cut! And sometimes, it might take more! Some songwriters “write,” professional writers “rewrite.”
Because we hear so many songs that are “so close” but not quite there, we’ve decided to offer a critique service. And you get 2 for the price of 1. Frances and Harry will both critique your songs for lyric, melody, structure, and commercial potential.
Our qualifications:
- Co-Writers Award in 2002 Tennessee Songwriters Association International (TSAI).
- Most Promising Female Writer in 2004.
- Most Promising Male Writer in 2008.
- Studied with Jason Blume, Pat Pattison, Kim Copeland, Jai Josefs, and others.
- Written with many of Nashville’s hit writers, including Karen Taylor-Good, Brian White, Jim Femino, Dylan Altman, Byron Hill, and Bernie Nelson.
As an introduction to our service, and for a limited time, we’re offering the special prices below. You can choose from the following options:
An mp3 file with our comments:
- One song: $20
- Two songs: $35
- Three songs: $50
- A Skype session: $50 per hour.
In addition, when the song is ready, we’ll offer you a song agreement and pitch it for artists, movies, TV, video games, and commercials.
How to Submit for Critiques
Send us mp3's of your songs with lyrics (or lyrics only, if you don't write melody). A rough recording (even a cappella) is okay. When we receive your payment, we’ll send instructions for submitting your songs. Please send each mp3 in a separate e-mail so the files don't get too large. Be sure to include lyric sheets. In 2 - 4 weeks you'll receive an mp3 by e-mail with a detailed, constructive critique of your songs, including analysis of the lyric, melody, structure, title and idea, and commercial potential. Please don't invest in a demo prior to the critique.
